Archaeological Museum of Florence Under Renovation Until December 31, 2025

Visitors to the Archaeological Museum of Florence (MAF) until December 31, 2025, will find the museum in a state of renovation. This renewal is part of a large project coordinated by the renowned architectural firm Guicciardini & Magni, with scientific supervision by Mario Iozzo. It is partially funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and international donations. The official announcement was made here.

The renovations include improvements to the building’s energy efficiency and the elimination of architectural and cognitive barriers, as well as a complete overhaul of routes and accessibility.

The renovation of the main entrance and the restructuring of the Etruscan sculpture section, starting with the Chimera Room, are also part of the project.

The newly appointed director, Daniele F. Maras, emphasized the commitment to keep the museum partially open during the works, organizing events and temporary exhibitions to engage the public. The goal is to strengthen the relationship between the museum and the citizens of Florence.
