This holiday season, Florence is set to amaze its visitors once again with the return of the Florence Eye. After its successful runs in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 the giant Ferris wheel is back, offering breathtaking views of Florence from its towering height of 55 meters. From November 28, 2025 to January 31, 2026, the Florence Eye will be the centerpiece of the city’s festive and springtime celebrations.

Florence Eye 2025: Dates and Location

This year, the Florence Eye moves to a new home: Fortezza da Basso, around Piazzale Oriana Fallaci. Unlike previous editions that stretched through spring, the 2025 installation will run for a limited period — just over two months — making it one of the most anticipated seasonal events in the city.

Operating daily from 10:00 AM to 12:00 AM, the Ferris wheel delivers sweeping views of Florence and the illuminated gardens surrounding the Fortezza. It’s a spectacular way to experience the city’s skyline in a festive atmosphere.

Ice Skating Rink: Gliding Through the Magic of Christmas

This edition introduces a major highlight: a 320-meter ice skating rink that circles the fountain at Piazzale Oriana Fallaci. Open through January 31, 2026, the rink welcomes both seasoned skaters and beginners, with penguin supports available for younger visitors.

It’s one of the most unique skating experiences in Italy — a long, open-air loop set in the heart of Florence’s winter celebrations.

Christmas Village and Cultural Events

The Christmas Village transforms the Fortezza da Basso area into one of Florence’s most charming winter settings, with activities designed for families, children, and anyone looking to embrace the holiday spirit.

The village is open until January 6, 2026 with the following schedule:
Monday–Friday: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Saturday, Sunday and school holidays: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
On December 25 and January 1: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Closed on December 1, 9 and 15.

Families will find a variety of attractions, including the Casa di Babbo Natale (Santa’s House) and its charming Ufficio Postale, where children can drop off their Christmas letters. The market stalls offer crafts, gifts, decorations and seasonal surprises.

There are immersive themed areas as well — XMas Experience & La Fabbrica di Cioccolato and Il Laboratorio delle Meraviglie — which create playful moments for all ages. The village also features winter street food favorites like popcorn, roasted chestnuts and sweet treats that complete the festive atmosphere.
