Symphony of Cultures – If you’re visiting Florence next Sunday, February 8, 2026, here’s an unmissable cultural experience: Palazzo Vecchio will host a unique sensory journey that blends the grandeur of the Florentine Renaissance with sounds from around the world. The “Sinfonia di culture” (Symphony of Cultures) event marks the first gathering of the year for the Musei in Musica project, an initiative by the MUS.E Foundation in collaboration with La Filharmonie – Orchestra Filarmonica di Firenze.

Symphony of Cultures at Palazzo Vecchio

Two sessions will be held on February 8, 2026, at 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM, offering visitors a multidisciplinary experience that weaves together Renaissance visual arts with musical languages from different cultures. The program’s intercultural focus promises to create meaningful connections between past and present.

The visit will be led by facilitators from the AMIR Project, who will present a contemporary reinterpretation of the palace through intercultural narratives. This approach establishes dialogues between Renaissance works and stories with other cultures and identities, demonstrating how artistic heritage can be a common and universal good.

Musical Journey Across Continents

The highlight of the event is a “sonic journey between continents,” performed by musicians Ladislau Petru Horvath (violin) and Susanna Bertuccioli (harp). The musical performance accompanies the facilitators’ narrative, creating an immersive experience where geographic distances dissolve through the encounter of different artistic languages.

Getting There

The event takes place at the Museo di Palazzo Vecchio, located in the iconic Piazza della Signoria in the heart of Florence. Due to its central location (ZTL – Limited Traffic Zone), access is easy for pedestrians and public transportation:

  • On foot: From Santa Maria Novella train station, the walk takes about 15 minutes. The most common route passes through Piazza del Duomo and continues along Via dei Calzaiuoli to the square.
  • By bus: Electric mini-bus lines C1 and C2 circulate through the historic center with strategic stops near the Uffizi Gallery or Via della Condotta, just steps from the palace entrance.
  • By tram: Take lines T1 or T2 to Unità or Alamanni Stazione stops and continue on foot through the center.
