That gives you several different ways to plan a summer trip back to the United States.

New York and Boston are strong choices for a city break with museums, restaurants, waterfront walks, and easy public transportation. Miami is a better fit if you want beaches, warm evenings, Art Deco architecture, and a more relaxed vacation rhythm.

For the West Coast, Los Angeles and San Francisco open the door to California, whether you want beaches, national parks, wine country, coastal drives, or a longer road trip.

Chicago is ideal for architecture, food, music, and lakefront walks, while Washington is a good choice for museums, monuments, and American history. Houston can work well if your final destination is Texas or if you are planning to continue to another part of the country.

Which U.S. city should you choose?

If you are missing home, the best city is probably the one that gets you closest to the people you want to see. But if you are turning the trip into a real summer vacation, the destination can make a big difference.

New York is the most classic choice. It is intense, expensive, and full of energy, but it delivers that immediate “back in the U.S.” feeling as soon as you step into Manhattan. A few days can be enough for Central Park, the High Line, Brooklyn, a museum, a Broadway show, and skyline views.

Boston feels more manageable and historic. It can be a good choice if you want a walkable city with universities, bookstores, waterfront areas, museums, and New England atmosphere.

Miami is for sunshine, beaches, Latin American food, and colorful neighborhoods. It is also one of the most vacation-like options on the list, although July and August can be very hot and humid.

San Francisco is beautiful for bay views, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, cable cars, and nearby nature. It also works well as a starting point for Northern California if you want to continue toward wine country, the coast, or national parks.

Los Angeles is better if you have a plan. It can be fantastic for beaches, movie history, neighborhoods, shopping, food, and California road trips, but it is not the easiest city to improvise without a car or a clear itinerary.

Chicago is one of the best summer cities in the U.S., especially if you enjoy architecture, lakefront walks, museums, music, and restaurants. Washington is ideal if you want a culture-heavy trip, with museums, memorials, and national landmarks.

Summer trip ideas from Italy

For a short trip, New York or Boston are the easiest choices. You can keep the itinerary simple, avoid renting a car, and move around mostly by subway, walking, or rideshare. A 5 to 7 day trip is enough to feel like you have changed continents without making the schedule too complicated.

For a family trip, Miami, New York, or Washington can work well, depending on the age of the children and the kind of vacation you want. Miami is more beach-oriented, New York is exciting but tiring, and Washington can be surprisingly practical because many of the major museums are free to enter.

For a bigger summer journey, California needs more time. If you are flying to Los Angeles or San Francisco, try to leave space in the itinerary for more than one city or region. With 10 to 14 days, you can think about a more complete route, combining city time with coast, nature, or wine country.

Chicago is a good option if you want a U.S. city that feels big, interesting, and summery without choosing the most obvious destinations. A river architecture cruise, the Art Institute of Chicago, Millennium Park, Lake Michigan, and neighborhood restaurants can easily fill several days.

What to know before booking Economy Light

The promotional fare is in Economy Light. That can be useful if your priority is price, but you should check the rules carefully before confirming the booking.

According to the campaign conditions, the ticket must be purchased at least 7 days before departure. The minimum stay is either a Saturday night or 6 days, and the maximum stay is 12 months.

Changes are allowed with a €300 penalty, both before and after departure, for flights to the United States. Refunds are not allowed.

There are also discounted fares for children. Infants from 0 to under 2 years old receive a 90% discount on the purchased fare, while children from 2 to under 12 years old receive a 25% discount.

The most important practical detail is baggage. The general conditions say baggage may not be included in the final fare and extra fees may apply. Before paying, check exactly what the ticket includes, especially if you are traveling with children, staying for several weeks, or planning to bring gifts back from the U.S.

Is this Italy to USA flight deal worth it?

To check current availability and compare travel dates, see the ITA Airways summer deals here: Book Italy to USA flights.

For many travelers in Italy, yes, this can be a useful summer deal. A round-trip fare from €549 to the United States is attractive, especially for direct flights during July and August.

The real question is whether the fare still makes sense after you add everything you need. Look at the final price with baggage, your preferred dates, the airport in Italy, and the U.S. city that works best for your plans.

If your schedule is firm and the fare appears on dates that fit your trip, this promotion can make a summer visit to the U.S. much easier to justify. If your plans are uncertain, the no-refund rule and the €300 change penalty are worth taking seriously before you book.
