Andrea Bocelli in Tuscany – Imagine an open-air theater set up amidst the rolling hills of Tuscany, with its cypress trees, hay bales, and the enchanting scenery that fills our eyes with beauty. And then, on a pleasant Italian summer night, have the opportunity to listen to Bocelli’s marvelous voice under the starlight.

Andrea Bocelli in Tuscany, my experience

The Teatro del Silenzio is in Lajatico, Andrea Bocelli’s hometown. The idea of the theater came from Andrea’s own brother: “At that time it seemed crazy, but today the 20,000 people who come to participate in this special event show that he was right,” explained the tenor at the beginning of the show on July 25, 2019. And to think that the first event was as far back as 2006…

The date for Andrea Bocelli’s next show in Lajatico in 2025 has already been announced, check it out here.

The show’s production is breathtaking: suffice to say that the 2019 edition was directed by Luca Tommassini, the famous choreographer, dancer, and now artistic director with the talent to create magic.

There are always several special guests as well. During the performance of Ali di Libertà on the night of July 25, 2019, when I attended, we had the privilege to listen to Mika.

But the song that stuck in my head and I kept humming until bedtime was Fall On Me, which Andrea Bocelli sang with his son Matteo. Here’s my video of Fall On Me at Teatro del Silenzio (2019)

Andrea Bocelli Foundation: A Night of Charity

Internationally renowned Italian tenor and philanthropist, Andrea Bocelli created the Andrea Bocelli Foundation to help the less fortunate have the opportunity to live their talents.

During the show’s intermissions, videos showcasing new projects were displayed. Those who weren’t there and want to contribute can visit the official website of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation.

Experiencing Andrea Bocelli in Tuscany: A Guide to Attending His Concert

Generally, the show takes place in July in Tuscany. The official date is usually announced months in advance (stay tuned from October for the following year), but sometimes it fills up quickly and a second date is opened, as happened in 2019. So if you missed the first date, don’t lose hope!

The Teatro del Silenzio is not a traditional theater. It’s a structure set up especially for Andrea Bocelli’s concert in his hometown in Tuscany. As an open-air venue, it includes some uneven terrains, so it’s advisable to ditch the heels and opt for flat, comfortable footwear.

On Your Own or with All Comfort?

You can buy the ticket yourself and organize the trip alone: it’s the most economical way, there are tickets starting from 127.68 Euros in the stands without assigned seating. But be careful: if you choose these places it’s advisable to arrive VERY EARLY because it fills up at the last minute.

If you’re driving, you can park in one of the many cheap parking lots (like 3 Euros) and then take a free bus that leaves from the parking lot to the concert venue. This bus transfer is free and necessary because the parking lots are distant, about 4km from the concert venue by road, it’s not possible to walk. If the flow of arrival is diluted on the way there, it can take a while to get on a bus after the concert and everyone gets a bit crowded.

For those who want more comfort but prefer to organize everything themselves, there’s also the option to purchase VIP GOLD Executive tickets on your own. These are the top-tier tickets, closest to the stage and include nearby parking and a welcome cocktail before the show. The only thing is they tend to sell out quickly.

If you don’t want to think about anything, prefer a travel agency: packages usually include front-row tickets in the Executive category, parking near the stage, transportation to the show with an executive vehicle driven by a private chauffeur, a welcome drink at the show, and even the chance to start the day visiting the vineyards of Bocelli Farmhouse, tasting wines with Andrea’s nephew, Alessio Bocelli, and experiencing something special. The sky’s the limit!

Well, now I’m going to listen a little more to the video I recorded of ‘Fall On Me’ during the concert. Ah, what a magical night!
