Toquinho, the Brazilian singer and guitarist who spent a decade making music with Vinicius de Moraes, plays Florence on Thursday, February 4, 2027, at the Teatro Cartiere Carrara.

The concert is the first stop of a short Italian tour called 60 Anni di Musica (60 Years of Music), with singer Camilla Faustino at his side. If you are planning a winter trip to Tuscany, here is what you need to know about tickets, the show and how to reach a theater that sits well outside the historic center.

The Brazilian Guitarist Italy Adopted

Toquinho was born Antonio Pecci Filho in São Paulo in 1946, into a family of Italian descent. Italy came into his life in June 1969, when he traveled here to join his friend Chico Buarque, then in exile. Together they played about 40 shows up and down the peninsula, opening for Josephine Baker.

That same year, a record made in Italy in tribute to Vinicius de Moraes led to the great partnership of his life. In 1970 Vinicius invited him to Buenos Aires, and they stayed together until the poet died in 1980, with more than 1,000 shows, 120 songs and 12 albums. In 1976 the two recorded La voglia la pazzia l’incoscienza l’allegria in Rome with Italian singer Ornella Vanoni. According to the Auditorium Conciliazione in Rome, a 50th-anniversary edition with unreleased tracks comes out on November 13, 2026.

His best-known song has an Italian story too. Aquarela, a classic in Brazil, began life as Acquarello, with Italian lyrics by Guido Morra and music written with Maurizio Fabrizio, and was a hit of the Italian summer of 1983. The Portuguese version came after. Have a listen:

What to Expect at “60 Anni di Musica”

The theater’s presentation describes an evening that retraces 60 years of songs and pays tribute to the friends, composers and collaborators who shaped them. Camilla Faustino, presented as one of the great voices of Brazil’s new generation of MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), shares the stage with him.

No full set list has been published. Expect songs from the 1976 album, which the Rome venue has confirmed, and classics such as Acquarello, listed by the Milan venue. The numbers on his official website give an idea of how much there is to choose from: more than 90 albums and more than 500 compositions.

Getting to Teatro Cartiere Carrara

The theater is on Via Fabrizio De André, at the corner of Lungarno Aldo Moro, in the east of the city.

  • By bus: from Santa Maria Novella station, take Autolinee Toscane line 14 toward Varlungo and get off at Aretina Monzani or Aretina De Nicola. The ride takes about 20 minutes.
  • By taxi: the theater lists Radio Taxi Cotafi (055 4390) and Radio Taxi Socota (055 4242). It is the easiest way back to the center after a 9:00 pm show.
  • By car: the recommended A1 exit is Firenze Sud, and the theater has about 110 parking spaces.

All of this comes from the theater’s directions page. If you plan to take the bus back, check the time of the last run before you go.

Build a February Trip Around the Concert

Bryan Adams plays Teatro del Maggio on February 8, so a long stay can take in both concerts. By day, Artemisia Gentileschi at the Museo degli Innocenti runs through April 4, 2027, and there is always the Uffizi, Michelangelo’s David and Palazzo Pitti.

The concert also falls during Carnival season: the Viareggio Carnival holds its parades on the Tuscan coast through February 20. If you are coming from Rome or Milan, compare train times and fares on Trenitalia and Trainline.
