#domenicalmuseo – Tuscany’s Open Day for Culture Lovers

The Italian Ministry of Culture is once again presenting its #domenicalmuseo initiative, a unique opportunity that grants free access to state museums and archaeological parks every first Sunday of the month.

#domenicalmuseo is confirmed in September, 2024

This forthcoming event, set for September 1st offers both locals and tourists the chance to immerse themselves in the rich history and culture of Tuscany.

In May 2023 alone, the initiative attracted a crowd of over 300,000 people, a testament to the allure of Italy’s heritage.

Visits are scheduled during the regular opening hours of each museum and archaeological site. Some sites require reservations in advance, so be sure to check before your visit.

In Arezzo

  • Basilica di San Francesco, renowned for its Piero della Francesca frescoes
  • Museo Archeologico Nazionale “Gaio Cilnio Mecenate” hosting artifacts from the region’s Etruscan and Roman history
  • Museo di Casa Vasari, the former home of Giorgio Vasari, offering insights into the artist’s life and work
  • Museo Nazionale d’Arte Medievale e Moderna, housing a significant collection of medieval and modern artworks.

In Firenze (Florence)
