Highlights of the 2026 Program

A collaboration between Banfi Winery, the Alexanderplatz Jazz Club of Rome, and the City of Montalcino, Jazz & Wine has become one of Tuscany’s most beloved cultural events.

The 2026 lineup opens on July 20 with the Kenny Garrett Electric Band “Tribute to Miles Davis” at Castello Banfi. A saxophonist and composer from Detroit, Kenny Garrett was a key member of Miles Davis’ band from 1987 until 1991, and in Montalcino he brings a tribute rooted in that powerful electric jazz legacy.

On July 21, Castello Banfi hosts Danilo Rea and Doctor 3. Rea has appeared in many editions of the festival and is closely connected with its history. Together with Enzo Pietropaoli on double bass and Fabrizio Sferra on drums, he brings back one of the most acclaimed trios in Italian jazz.

The third night at Castello Banfi, on July 22, features Hamid Drake meets Antonello Salis feat. Stefano “Cocco” Cantini & Rosario Bonaccorso. The project brings together American jazz percussionist Hamid Drake, Italian jazz soloist Antonello Salis, saxophonist Stefano “Cocco” Cantini, and double bassist Rosario Bonaccorso for a night of free jazz, expressive improvisation, and international musical dialogue.

On July 23, the festival moves to the Fortezza di Montalcino with Stefano Di Battista Quintet, Special Guest Paco Sery, “We Love Miles”. A leading figure in European jazz, Di Battista presents a tribute to Miles Davis in one of Montalcino’s most atmospheric historic settings.

July 24 brings a Brazilian touch to the festival with Rosalia de Souza Bossa Band. Born in Rio de Janeiro and known for her refined contemporary bossa nova style, Rosalia de Souza performs in Montalcino as part of her 2026 Italian tour.

On July 25, Rita Marcotulli Quartet welcomes British saxophonist Andy Sheppard as special guest. The concert was created especially for Montalcino and promises an elegant mix of jazz, lyricism, and contemporary influences.

The grand finale on July 26 features Enrico Rava Quintet The Fearless Five. One of the best-known Italian jazz musicians on the international scene, Rava closes the 29th edition of Jazz & Wine in Montalcino with a project that brings together his experience and the creative energy of a new generation of Italian jazz artists.
