Spending December in Florence and wondering what Italians actually do on a Saturday night before Christmas?
On Saturday, December 12, 2026, at 9:00 PM, Il Volo bring their tour “Live nei Palasport 2026” to the Nelson Mandela Forum.
The trio sings Italian classics the way most visitors imagine Italian music sounds, and the whole arena tends to sing along. It is one of only five Italian dates in December.

Who Are Il Volo?
Il Volo are three singers who met as teenagers on the Italian TV show Ti lascio una canzone in 2009: tenors Piero Barone and Ignazio Boschetto, and baritone Gianluca Ginoble.

They were the first Italian artists to sign directly with a major American label, Geffen Records. Their debut album went platinum and reached the US Billboard top ten.
In 2012, still in their teens, they toured the United States and Canada with Barbra Streisand.
Their best-known song is “Grande amore”, which won the Sanremo Festival in 2015 and then finished third at the Eurovision Song Contest, after winning the public vote.
Since then they have built a career on the crossover repertoire: Italian standards, opera arias and pop songs rearranged for three voices, including a Three Tenors tribute with Plácido Domingo and an album dedicated to Ennio Morricone.
In 2025 they released the live album Live At The Valley Of The Temples, recorded among the Greek temples of Agrigento, in Sicily.
“Live nei Palasport 2026”: The December Tour
“Live nei Palasport 2026” is a short Italian run that closes the year, produced by Friends & Partners: five arena concerts, all in December.
The tour opens in Milan on December 7 at the Unipol Forum, stops in Florence on December 12, then goes to Rome on December 17, Turin on December 19 and Bologna on December 20.
That makes Florence the only Tuscan stop of the run, and the one to aim for if your December trip is built around Tuscany.
The Italian shows sit inside the group’s wider World Tour 2026/2027, which also takes them across Europe the following autumn.
Nelson Mandela Forum: Florence’s Arena
The Nelson Mandela Forum is at viale Pasquale Paoli 3, in the Campo di Marte district, next to the Artemio Franchi stadium.
It is an indoor arena, so December weather is not a problem once you are inside. Location is the part worth planning: it sits east of the historic centre, not within it.
There are two ways to get there, and you only need one of them.
By train: get off at Firenze Campo di Marte. From that station the arena is about a 10-minute walk, and that is the whole trip.
By bus: from Santa Maria Novella, the city’s main station, take line 10, 17 or 20.
Whichever you choose, leave more time than you think you need on a Saturday night in December.

A concert like this is a good excuse to build a December trip around something other than shopping streets: a morning at the Uffizi, an afternoon walking off the panettone, and an evening listening to three Italians sing songs the whole room knows.
