The Fortezza da Basso is conveniently located near Florence’s main train station, Santa Maria Novella, so arriving by train is a breeze. If you’re driving, there are plenty of parking options in the vicinity, including the Parcheggio Fortezza da Basso and areas around Santa Maria Novella or Piazza della Libertà.

Take note that the Fortezza is just outside the Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL). Check current traffic restrictions (7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays) to steer clear of fines.

On a broader travel note, you’ll find it easy to get around Florence whether you’re flying into Florence Airport or even coming in from Rome’s FCO Airport.
