Who Is Malika Ayane?
If you don’t follow Italian pop music, there’s a good chance you’ve never heard the name Malika Ayane — and that’s exactly what makes a show like this interesting: it’s a genuine slice of Italian culture, not a set built for tourists.
Born in Milan on January 31, 1984, to an Italian mother and a Moroccan father, Ayane had a formal musical education from an early age: she sang in the children’s choir of Teatro alla Scala and studied cello at Milan’s Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory.
She signed with Sugar Music in 2007 and released her self-titled debut album in 2008, followed by five more studio albums: Grovigli (2010), Ricreazione (2012), Naïf (2015), Domino (2018) and Malifesto (2021).
Ayane has competed at the Sanremo Festival — Italy’s biggest music competition and a genuine national event — six times: in 2009, 2010, 2013, 2015, 2021 and again in 2026 with the song “Animali notturni”.
Her 2009 entry, “Come foglie”, went platinum and placed 2nd among the Newcomers. She has also served as a judge on the Italian edition of X Factor, cementing her place as one of the most recognizable voices in modern Italian pop.
“A Teatro 2026”: A Nationwide Theater Tour
The Florence date is one stop on a much bigger run: “A Teatro 2026” is a 14-city tour across Italy, opening on November 1 in Fermo and closing on November 28 in Pescara. Between those dates, Ayane plays theaters in Rome, Milan, Turin, Bologna, Padua, Naples, and two stops in Sicily, Catania and Palermo — alongside smaller cities such as Catanzaro, Bitritto and Senigallia.

New Music: “Una Possibilità”
Ahead of the tour, Ayane returned with new music: the single “Una Possibilità” (Carosello Records, licensed through M.A.S.T./Believe) came out on streaming platforms on May 29, 2026 and hit Italian radio on June 5.
Teatro Verdi: Florence’s Historic Concert Hall
Teatro Verdi sits in the historic center of Florence, close to Piazza Santa Croce, and is best known locally as the home stage of the Orchestra della Toscana.
