Pietrasanta is ideally located in northern Tuscany, just 45 minutes from Pisa, 30 minutes from Lucca, and about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Florence by car. This makes it a perfect cultural stop for travelers exploring the Tuscan coast or combining seaside relaxation with day trips to some of the region’s most iconic cities.

A Global Symphony in Tuscany

More than just a motto, this year’s theme—Music Without Borders—turns the Pietrasanta Music Festival into a true musical journey across continents.

Brazil takes center stage with the Italian premiere of a captivating piano trio by Antonio Santana, essential works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, and beloved folk tunes that reflect the soul of Brazilian culture.

From Argentina, audiences will enjoy the Italian debut of octets by Eduardo Rovira—known as “the other Piazzolla”—alongside rediscovered octets by Astor Piazzolla himself, offering a rare glimpse into Argentina’s rich tango heritage.

The Hungarian virtuoso Jeno Lisztes brings the distinctive sound of the cimbalom to life under the stars in the Piazza, while celebrated violinist Maxim Vengerov and pianist Polina Osetinskaya explore the powerful landscapes of Shostakovich’s Russia.

The program continues with timeless works by Vivaldi, Chopin, Mendelssohn, and Sarasate, each representing the pinnacle of their national musical traditions. A special highlight this year is the debut of mandolin phenomenon Avi Avital, performing the Italian premiere of Avner Dorman’s concerto. And, by popular demand, the enchanting flutist Andrea Griminelli returns to Pietrasanta once again.

Nurturing the Next Generation

After the overwhelming success of the 2024 masterclasses, the 2025 festival proudly presents two exceptional concerts showcasing young talents performing alongside their distinguished mentors. Featured musicians include David Geringas and Jing Zhao (cello), Pierre-Henri Xuereb (viola), and violinists Silvia Marcovici, Pavel Berman, and Eva Bindere.

These intergenerational collaborations breathe new life into the classical tradition, embodying the festival’s mission to foster the future of music both in Pietrasanta and worldwide.
