  1. Hi Barbara. Thank-you for your Siena taxi tips! We are a traveling pair of one seasoned and one disabled but ambulatory persons. We are staying in Siena for nine days, two of which will be spent at a wedding 10km from our hotel. Quite frankly, we ar a bit apprehensive about securing rides to and from the venue as well as getting from the hotel to the bus stop to catch the bus to the airport in Rome. I wish we could book these three trips, two of them round trips, in advance as arrival times at destinations are a bit crucial. Then we could stop worrying about it & enjoy everything else we’ve planned. Do you have any suggestions as to how to do this from the US prior to our trip? We have contacted disability services @ the University, but have not heard back yet. After reading your bio & seeing the thoroughness of your article, we feel confident in any suggestions you may have. Thank-you. Lia & Luke

  2. Hi Lia and Luke,

Thank you for reaching out! I’m glad you found the taxi tips helpful. Given your situation, I completely understand your concerns about securing transportation, especially considering the importance of arriving on time for the wedding and catching your bus to the airport.

To ease your worries, I suggest contacting a local taxi company in Siena: http://www.taxisiena.it/en/

In many cases, the couple getting married already has arrangements with a transfer service that other guests will be using. It could be helpful to contact them and ask if you can be included in those plans, which might make your transportation needs easier to manage.

Since you haven’t heard back from the university’s disability services, you might also want to consider contacting your hotel in Siena. Often, hotels can arrange transportation for their guests or recommend trusted local services.

I hope these suggestions help you feel more at ease so that you can focus on enjoying your time in Siena and the wedding.

    Best regards,

    Barbara
